A day to remember, honor and mourn US service members that have served in the Military. Honoring all who have sacrificed for our Country and the freedoms we appreciate today due to their ultimate sacrifice. There are many ways that you can honor them Memorial Day weekend, we’ve put together 10 ways that you can do that right here in Orange County.  

 

Memorial Day Observance In San Clemente

Date: May 27th, 2024

When: 11am- 12pm

Where: San Clemente Community Center: 100 N Calle Seville, San Clemente, CA 92672

Join community leaders on Memorial Day as they commemorate our fallen veterans. The program is held outdoors and is free and open to the public.

El Toro Memorial Day Remembrance Celebration

Date: May 27th, 2024 

When: 11am

Where: El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest: 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630

 

Special keynote speakers will lead the ceremony  with the reading of General Logan’s Order, the recognition of attending Veterans and Blue and Gold Star Mothers, and  a wreath presentation by representatives from the surrounding cities. The program also includes an Honor Guard Firing Salute provided by member of VFW Post 6024. Special music is provided by the Master Chorale of Saddleback Valley, the playing of “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes and the sounding of “Taps’ by a bugler.  American Legion Chaplain Frank Cook will also provide a World War I Historical Display.

 

Irvine’s Memorial Day Celebration 

Date: May 27th, 2024

Guest speakers and vocal performances in honor and appreciation of our military men, women and families.

Anaheim Veterans Monument

Date: Anytime

When: 241 S. Anaheim Blvd.

The Anaheim Veterans Monument is next to the Muzeo in downtown Anaheim. Anaheim’s 9-foot high Veterans Monument was dedicated in 1999 and designed by Anaheim artist Richard Turner. The monument, made from bronze and concrete, depicts all branches of the military from wars of the 20th century. Turner’s research in the Anaheim Library led him to include images depicting actual Anaheim residents. The monument is flanked by fountains, representative of water washing away years of conflict.

Memorial Day Remembrance in Huntington Beach 

Date: May 27th, 2024

When: 11am

Where: Pier Plaza 401 CA-1, Huntington Beach, CA 92648

Join Mayor Gracey Van Der Mark, American Legion Post 133, Huntington Beach High School Band, and more for a tribute to honor the brave men & women who gave their lives to defend our freedom. The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Pier Plaza at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27. 

La Palma Memorial Day Ceremony

Date: May 27th,2024

When: 9am

Pay tribute to the dedication and sacrifices the men and women of our Nation’s Armed Forces have made.

Heroes Hall 

Date: Open Weekly Wednesday-Sunday

When:  10am-4pm

Where: OC Fair & Events Center 88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626

Heroes Hall is a free, permanent, year-round museum and education center with exhibitions, performances and educational programs that celebrate the legacy of Orange County veterans and others who have served our nation. The two-story exhibition space will rotate themes semi-annually with each focusing on an aspect of the personal stories and experiences of veterans.

Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Memorial Day Remembrance

Date: May 27th, 2024

When: 11am 

Where: Naval Weapons Station In Seal Beach 800 Seal Beach Blvd, Seal Beach, CA 90740

The Memorial Day ceremony will be held at the United States National Submarine Memorial West, located at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, on Monday, May 27 starting at 11:00am.  The event is free and no advance reservations are needed.

 

Field Of Honor At Castaways Park 

Date: May 17th-27th

When:  5am- 9:55pm daily

Where: Castaways Park 700 Dover Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660

 

Each year the city of Newport Beach fills the Memorial Park with 1776 flags to honor the men and women who have served this Country. 

 

 

Freedom Park Vietnam War Memorial 

Date: Open Daily 

When: 9:30am-10:00pm 

Where: Vietnam War Memorial 14199 All American Way, Westminster, CA 92683

 A dedication to those that lost their lives or were a prisoner of war in the Vietnam War. The memorial is open daily and is free to the public.
