The Summer season is coming to an end, SoCal! As we soak up the last bit of those long Summer days, Summer 2023 was a season well spent. Pool days, BBQs, summer concerts, movies in the park, vacations and staycations. Now it’s that time of the year when students across the globe prepare for their next adventure: going back to school. It’s a time of new beginnings, opportunities, and growth. By embracing the excitement, preparing for the academic challenges, and setting realistic goals, you can make the most out of the school year.  We’ve put together a checklist to help you breeze through the prep!


Buy those much needed school supplies: Notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, lunch box, backpacks. A little short on supplies? Orange County has a number of organizations that have giveaways and even offer free supplies to get those kids back to school. Organizations like the School on Wheels, Assistance League and the salvation army offer different supplies and services like clothing, school supplies, programs and more. Make sure to label your belongings like those backpacks, lunch boxes and school supplies. 


Check your uniform or dress code requirements, if applicable. Each school district has different requirements make sure you’re set and ready to go with your schools dress code.


Life gets busy and when combining multiple schedules and important dates to remember taking a little time to review the school schedule and important dates and noting them in advance can help make the school year a breeze.


How are you getting to and coming home from school? Carpool? Family? Bus? Renew any school transportation arrangements



Review any summer assignments or reading lists. There are still a few weeks to get things finished up before the school year begins. While your at it check if you need any textbooks or digital materials for your classes.


Its coming, its always coming. Homework. Having a place set up in advance that you’re going to do it helps to keep the routine. Set up a study area at home, find a place at school or at your local library. Make sure to organize those important documents or forms for and from the school.


Do you plan on joining any clubs, teams or doing any extracurricular activities? Sign up! Double-check any extracurricular activities or clubs you want to join.


Set up a sleep schedule to adjust to school hours. Make sure you have time to pack a lunch, get ready and make it there on time. Its time to get back into the swing of things!
