The Summer Camps In Orange County Your Kids Will Love

Summer is right around the corner and unless you are a stay at home parent or have friends and family to help watch the kiddos, then you probably are thinking about summer camps. Most kids enjoy summer camp because it gives them a chance to interact with other kids their own age and participate in fun activities. In Orange County, there are a handful of summer camps that run over the summer for kids of all ages. Plus, no one summer camp is alike so you’re bound to find one that your child will love — some camps focus on a single theme or topic while others are more random and have a bit of everything.

Ahead, we’ve garnered a list of seven of the best summer camps in Orange County that you’ll want to consider. Don’t wait too long to register because spots are already filling up quickly and you don’t want to miss out.

If your child has shown interest in skateboarding or is open to trying something new, then Etnies Summer Skate Camp is where they want to be. The camp is geared towards kids ages 8 to 12 years old and offers campers with world-class skateboarding instruction.  Click here to register!

Although it is a skateboarding camp, it’s not all they’ll do during the week. They also host arts & crafts, themed days, field trips, demonstrations, and games/activities designed to familiarize them with skatepark terrain. The skatepark even has a camp lounge where campers can hang-out, unwind, enjoy snacks, and participate in video game tournaments.

A full week of camp is $249 for 5 days (Monday-Friday) and it runs between 10am and 2pm, but participants are also welcome to drop in for single days of camp which go for $55 including snacks and lunch.

Camp sessions for the summer start as early as May 26 for Memorial Day and go through August 8.

For those kids who like to swim or are interested in learning more about water safety, Wild Rivers Water Park Junior Lifeguards Summer Camp is a top contender. This summer camp is geared for kids ages 6 to 13 years old and runs for one week. At the week-long camp, campers will learn essential life saving skills and can play on water slides.

Standard camp hours are Monday-Friday between 8am-1pm. If you need your child to stay longer, they offer an optional Extended Care Stay & Play program between 1:30-5pm daily for an additional $40 per day. The camp offers 10 sessions starting on June 9 and ending on August 15.

Wild Rivers Water Park Junior Lifeguards Summer Camp is $399 per week, however, you can save $50 when using code ATOC50 at checkout when you register.

For those crafty kiddos, you’ll want to register them for Urban Worshop’s summer camp where they will learn to make projects on their own. The camp operates on a level basis where each level advances in the types of tools and projects campers can do during their experience. Level one involves the use of hand tools compared to level four which has campers using metal power tools to craft. Regardless of level, the camp is separated into 10 sessions starting on May 5 and ending on August 22. The camp is designed for kids ages 10 to 16 years old and prerequisites are needed to register your child in an advanced level.

The cost is $800 per student for a week-long session (Monday-Friday) from 9am to 4pm. This includes the cost of materials and tools.

Does your child love science? Do they find it exciting to experiment? If that sounds familiar, then you’ll want to register them for Discovery Cube Summer Camp. The week-long camp is centered around a different theme depending on age and grade level. For kids in grades K-2, there’s Extreme Animals and Jr. Bot Lab. For those in grades 3-5, there’s Cosmic Explorers and Bot Lab and for those in Grades 5-8, there’s Battle Zone: Build Your Own Bot.

The dates of the week-long sessions will vary based on the camp and location you choose so you’ll want to look on the website for specific details. Each session runs Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm with the option for early pickup at 2pm for K-2 camps.

The price points also vary depending on the week chosen and if you’re a member or not — members get a discounted rate on sessions. For example, a week-long session of Extreme Animals is $350 for members and $385 for non-members. The price does go up for the more robot heavy camps for older kids as those require more tools and materials.

If you live near Newport Beach, then you’ll want to take a look at Camp James for your kiddo. Unlike some summer camps where children are taken on a bus to different activities, Camp James offers everything on site from swimming and archery to laser tag and martial arts. Activities will vary based on age and campers must be at least 6 years old to attend Camp James.

The camp runs in week-long sessions over the course of 10 weeks starting on June 9 through the week of August 11. Each week has a different theme ranging from beach bonanza to Zootopia Camp and each session is $625. Camp hours are between 9am and 4pm with a 30-minute grace period at the beginning and end of the day.

If your child loves music, then you’ll want to register them for this summer camp in Irvine. Campers as young as 4 years old can spend time making and learning about music in a fun and safe environment. There are different themes for camp sessions depending on age and there’s even a session called ‘The Art of Pop Songs’ where your kiddo can write their own song — if they want to become the next Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter, then this is the perfect way to get started.

Sessions start on June 16 and run through the week of August 11. The cost ranges from $245 to $285 per camper and runs for two hours a day starting at 10am.
